Costuming: Vincent Valentine

Okay, so I have been busy in what little spare time I have, costuming. I don't do this too often, but I really get stuck in when I do. I've done stage one, that means that the basic costuming is complete - it's only the details that need doing now, and are well in progress.

Behind a cut, to not clutter up LJs with picspam.

If you don't know who Vincent Valentine is, you don't know Final Fantasy VII, so here's a pic:

Okay, so that's Vincent - go Wikipedia him if you want to know more, I can't describe him any better than they will, as I have the most lousy memory.

Here is me as Vincent, in my incomplete costume:

So we have some details of the things I'm working on now; I've done the clawed hand, it only needs sticking on the glove. Nextmost difficult is for sure Vincent's gun, Cerberus. Cerberus has three barrels. Originally I was going to make it so it pivoted, but due to time constraints (I'm going to England this time next week) and simple physics (how do you support that much weight on such a small pivot) I've given up. So much for reloading it with different materia.

Here are the pieces of Cerberus, made out of playfoam, a kid's plastic cricket stump and an old broken Western style gun:

details from the carving at the end of the gun:

and the pendant that will be attached to the gun:

I'm about to paint this silver!

Finally, I have all these straps of leather to hand sew on, and all these silver bits of fimo (painted silver, not silver fimo) to attach on the leather straps and the undershirt. The cape will have five buckeable buckles on it, all handsewn, there's three belts on the leg, a gun pouch, a long strap to attach the gunpouch and two belts at my waist, then three belts on my right arm. Gah. So much work.

Like an idiot though, I've taken on two costuming aims at the same time (and that's not even considering my HD Hols, Snapely Hols, HP Yule Balls, Harry Hols and NextGenFest deadlines) Gah! Here's the other project -- fairy wings! I'm making the most awesome Fairy Warrior Princess costume, with these wings and a whole bunch of stunning fabric. It will be skintight but also froofy. Oh yeah, that makes sense. My wings look awesome though:

They're all mounted up with the veins painted on, but only one has been painted and decorated with crystals to its completion. Here's the detail:

Weee! So excited!

Wow, you've really done lots of work on those costumes! All those details! O.O

I really love the wings - so pretty!

I'd love to go to an HP Yule Ball thing! I'd want to make a replica of Ginny's dress, it's so cute and the colours are funky. But I'm afraid it's too much of a child's dress for me. It would be super cute on a teenager, but when you're 28, you start to feel the need to avoid the little girl look...
