Definitely making it worse as if the hoof is longer, then it can start flaring which in turns leads to bruising and to an increased risk of the pedal bone starting to rotate!

As she was caught early this might not be terrible, but I would definitely get your farrier to have a chat with your vet! also a thing to consider is that nailing can be quite traumatic for the laminitic foot. Our farrier recommends gluing for severe cases. there is a lot of reading online about whether the heel should be lowered or supported, but everyone agrees that the longer the foot, the more likely laminitis will be triggered ...
