We lost our internet to a tree last week which came down on our phone line. Eventually they sent a Brit from the Massif Centrale to fix it, which meant putting the whole telephone post back up. A week without internet was almost too much to take.

Okay, here goes -- Imrearrangingmysummeraroundnotgoingtoazkatraz.

The thing is, I kind of convinced myself that we don't need to spend 2500 pounds on one trip right in the middle of a recession when everything is kind of crashing in on itself. It just doesn't make sense, and as much as I love you guys, this is one event I'm going to have to sit out.

I've got lots of things I want to do -- I want to learn to drive, which isn't cheap, I want to breed my mare, which isn't cheap, and far more importantly, my mother needs a set of false teeth, which is not going to be cheap. That's not to say I won't get a holiday, I'll just be scaling down - taking my sister to May Expo for a maximum of 1/5th of the price of the SF trip.

So no Azkatraz, but with any luck this year won't be uninteresting.

I have a super looking stallion to go and visit, a beautiful looking leopard Appaloosa which belongs to my farrier. I'll put up pictures when I have some. Most of you will remember that my mare is a Konik; genetically she's dominant Dun, which means that any foal she has will have darker points and a stripe down its back, just like her, regardlesss of the rest of the colours the foal inherits. So with that considered, all I'm looking for in a stallion is type, something a little taller and a little sportier, but hopefully just as cool blooded and sensible. I've also got my eye on this stallion , who is a Quarter Horse, and lives just down the road from us, so it isn't far to visit. Whatever the foal is, we'll be keeping and training it, so the horse I'm breeding is the horse I want to ride in five years time - simple.

Moving swiftly on, I'm writing. I know a lot of people on my flist are writing original stuff now. I'm writing too, flexing my fingers, as it were. I'm entering in a handful of competitions with no expectations, but it's more to actually do something -- get myself moving and concentrating, because I give up too easily. A couple of deadlines might kick me into gear.

I'm sure there's more, but I can't think, and this is probably about enough updating for now.
